What a crazy weekend! I don't know how the people do it. Saturday was the Pet Expo and the nice folks at Misty Creek asked especially for me to come out! Well...being the kind of guy I am, how could I say “no?” I got there bright and early to discover that this day would be more rewarding than merely being a spokesdog for the rescue. Do you know how many people were there to give me treats and pet me? I was happier than a dolphin in a vat of mackerel. What a day it was too! I was the only dog who made it through the whole day greeting people. Everyone wants a puppy, but a puppy can't pace himself like I can. Oh yeah. I spent the whole day wagging tail and perking ears and soaking up ALL the attention. Those silly whipper-snappers were all energetic for the first few hours and then crashed. Best part though, was showing everyone how perfect an older fellow like me can be. That's right...why get a puppy when you can get a dog who is happy to get attention, happy to be left alone, never has an “accident” in the house, doesn't jump and is just an all-around good friend. Now, I'm not knocking puppies – heck, I was one at one point. I'm just saying that I'll be a great friend to you and a super easy to keep companion. I'm like your Tim Horton's coffee – ready to go with no fuss, no muss.Anyway, foster mom was shocked that after such a hard day at work on Saturday that I'd be up for helping her in the yard on Sunday, but when she was ready to go, I was ready to help. Sure, it helped that I spent some time basking in the warm spring sun. (How lovely that was!) She raked up the leaves in yard that were left from last fall and I kept track of them for her. I also patrolled the yard to make sure that she was safe. I mean...there could have been an angry squirrel or a stray cat out there! I kept her good and safe and kept those leaves in order. This next week is going to be a lot of fun too. The niece is coming over, so I'll get a kid to play with me and love me for a bit. Mom says that company is coming this weekend too, so MORE PEOPLE TO LOVE ME! I'm so happy. Before I go, I just want to say thank you to all of the folks who came to the expo and showed how much they cared. I was so happy to know that there are so many pet lovers out there. I hope that one of you will soon become my forever family.Love, wags and cuddles,Jhettsu

Well...woweeee! Fostermom has been working non-stop for a few weeks now, so she hasn't updated my blog. It's okay though, because I've helping her with all the long hours she's working on her laptop. Oh, that's right – I took on ANOTHER job! My new job is to sit with her and keep her motivated. If it weren't for laying with her while she works and letting her stroke my chin and rub my ears, she wouldn't be able to do the work that she does.
A lot has gone on over the last while. We went to the groomer. She looked at me right away and realized that I hadn't been well-loved before Misty Creek came along. There were a lot of mats in my coat and even with all the brushing that I was loving from the foster family, I had my undercoat tangled and was just a mess. No wonder I felt so crummy. She shaved me (so now I look a little like a HUGE terrier – BLECH!) and I'm feeling like a million bucks. Sure...I don't look it, but I will once my coat grows back in all full and beautiful. Foster mom is rubbing me all the time with nice oils to keep my skin happy and to help my coat come back just right! I'm a pretty spoiled boy!
I also went to the Vet. She was really nice and they took such good care of me. Of course, it helps that I'm so willing to put up with anything. They found out that my hips aren't so good (duh!) but that, for the most part, I'm in great shape for my age. I had a nasty cough when I got there, but the Vet gave me some pills to take with my breakfast and supper, and I'm much better now. Foster mom is so proud of me because she can just put my medicine in with my food and I'll eat it like a good boy.
I've been doing more and more walking with my people. Now that the extra hair is gone, I'm boogying boy! I have to say, it's been a very relaxing few weeks. I finally got to spend some time with my foster dad's parents. Nana and Papa thought that I was just the most perfect dog for seniors because I'm so content to just laze about and be adored. I spent most of the day with them just laying at their feet and getting spoiled. Nana wasn't sure about my medicine, so she just put it in her hands with my kibble. Boy was she ever surprised how gentle I am! LOL
Oh! And someone started a nasty rumor about me not being good with smaller dogs. Well...I certainly poo-pooed that today! Foster mom's cousin brought her little spaniel over for lunch. He certainly was scared, but we got along just fine. He had a sniff of me, I had a sniff of him and that was the end of it. Who would possibly say I'm a meanie? Obviously someone took a big swig of stupid because I'm the most loving boy and I wouldn't hurt a fly! I love everyone too much!
Well...whether you have cats, dogs, kids, or all or none – I'm just going to be a great friend and a great companion to you. Won't you give me a chance to show you?
